nella trabeazione della porta augustea di Fano si trova un’iscrizione dedicatoria a Cesare Ottaviano Augusto «IMP. CESAR DIVI F. AVGVSTVS PONTIFEX MAXIMVS COS. XIII TRIBVNICIA POTESTATE XXXII IMP. XXVI PATER PATRIAE MURVM DEDIT» dove, tra le altre cose, si legge che Ottaviano venne acclamato imperatore 26 volte. Tuttavia è necessario dire che lo scalpellino deve avere fatto un errore poiché egli ricevette 21 acclamazioni, salutationes imperatoriae che venivano proclamate dalle truppe dell’esercito dopo un’importante vittoria e necessarie per richiedere al Senato di celebrare il trionfo. Un errore che rende l’iscrizione ancora più interessante.
